It took me awhile to figure out why I like this picture so much. I finally realized that it's the parallelism of the Goldfinch and the flowers. The coneflowers are holding onto one last petal before succumbing to the weather. Similarly, the Goldfinch is holding onto his bright feathers for a few more weeks before molting into their lighter winter colors.
