I've been wrapping Christmas presents all day and need a break so it seemed like a good time to finish sharing the last pics of my Thanksgiving trip to Florida. I always love it there because it's warm and beautiful and it's great to spend time with my parents. But I also love the wildlife especially all the birds that are definitely NOT chickens (see Christmas Show Woes if that last line didn't make any sense)
I already shared this picture on Facebook because it's one of my favorites but I always get several seagull pictures because they make me laugh.
Like when they yell at each other and fight over fish, no matter how big or small they are.
But I also laugh every time I see them because it makes me think of one of the first times Opie and I went to Florida after we got married and I thought it would be funny to get a picture of him running through the seagulls like Mary Tyler Moore did with the pigeons...but it ended up being more like George on Seinfeld because the seagulls didn't get out of his way at all and actually began chasing him. At which point I laughed so hard that I couldn't get a good picture of any of it.
It's a real mystery why he doesn't like participating in my impromptu photo shoots anymore.
In any case, here's another favorite from the trip A Wood Stork.
Which I had never seen in person and I chased around my parents' neighborhood like a lunatic, simultaneously taking pictures and trying to decide how to get it help because I was convinced there was something wrong with its head.
There isn't. That's what they look like - I literally had no clue.
In conclusion, I need to get back to wrapping gifts so I'll just say I'm relieved the stork wasn't an Injured Ibis
or an Eccentric Egret:
But mostly I'm glad none of them were chickens!
